This is the second album of a band called adebissi shank
So while I may be a little late to this particular party (the shanks second album was released during the damp squib of summer 2010) that doesn't take anything away from the unrestrained joy that comprises the sprawling (mainly instrumental) tracks contained within.
Opener international dream beat for one opens the album in a whirlwind of almost frog like noises squeezed from what can safely be assumed are well abused guitars before hailing through a blitzkrieg of instrumental rock with an almost fan fare like chorus and a series of uber melodic poppy synth lines.
Throughout the remaining tracks the watermarks remains remarkably high throughout with the decision to expand the bands initial template of strict desert dry guitar riff a thons with a more varied musical template taking in elements of daft punk robot rock and even a few computerised lyrical interludes as well.
Instrumental rock is notoriously difficult to keep the attention at times but it has to be said the sheer scale and ambition of the songwriting here lifts this band above the underground status they currently occupy and earmarks them as a genuine treasure to hold close to our battered 'relationship of command' Tshirts.
